Free Island Trolley

Once you are on the island, there is a free trolley that runs the length of the island throughout the day. There is a stop just accross the street! The trolley stops at several places along Gulf Drive, Marina Drive and Pine Avenue; just wait at the benches with the picture of the trolley painted on them.

Wheelchairs

Tampa is the largest nearby airport; it’s approximately 50 miles and usually a 75-minute drive away. Sarasota’s airport is smaller and closer (40 minutes), but often has higher fares, as does St. Petersburg-Clearwater airport (50 minutes). Other airports that sometimes offer reasonable fares are Orlando (120 miles) and Fort Myers (110 miles). 

You can take a taxi from the airports to the island for a flat fare: about $100 from Tampa and about $50 from Sarasota.
